March 22, 2000 | Making laws by day, making love by night: A lot of politicians do it, but not many get paid for it.

Daily Planet is a collection of short news items -- one each weekday -- that evoke and illuminate the far corners of the world. To read previous items, visit the Daily Planet archive.

According to the Associated Press, Swedish politico Goeran Eurenius was caught with his pants down when the Goteborg-Posten, a daily newspaper, revealed that he had moonlighted as a porn star.

The 47-year-old Eurenius is a local councilor in Haerryda, 310 miles southwest of Stockholm, and has "acted" in at least 14 pornographic movies.

The news came as a surprise to other members of the Leftist Party, known for supporting feminist and anti-pornography views. The local chapter Eurenius belongs to is now deciding whether to expel the multitalented lawmaker.

Eurenius, who was elected to a four-year term in 1998, defended his extracurricular endeavors in a telephone interview with the AP. He said, "I want to work both with politics and pornography."

Maybe President Clinton has a future after all.
