.....1999 salon books "reader's choice" poll
.....We picked what we thought were the
.....best books of 1999, now it's your turn.

Love to read? Tell us what your favorite book was of 1999 and you could be the lucky winner of a scrumptious gift basket filled with dreamy Salon.com goodies. Just picture yourself curled up immersed in a great book as you sip gourmet coffee out of your designer mug and nibble on delicious chocolates.

The Invitation:

On December 16th, we announced the 4th Annual Salon.com Book Awards These ten titles -- five fiction and five non-fiction -- are, in Salon.com's opinion, the very best of the best of 1999 literature.

Do you agree? Let us know. Just tell us your favorite fiction and nonfiction books of 1999. We'll tally the votes, and then post the top five choices of Salon.com readers in each category.

So tell us ... what were your favorite books of the year? Which titles grabbed you, made you weep or kept you turning pages late into the night? Remember one pick for each category - non-fiction and fiction.

Grand Prize:

Gift basket includes 1 lb. of gourmet coffee, a pair of exquisitely designed coffee mugs, a box of delicious chocolates and a copy of the best-selling Salon.com "Mothers Who Think" anthology.

How to enter:

E-mail us at readerschoice@salon.com with the titles of one fiction and one nonfiction book first published in 1999. (Paperback editions of books published in hardback in previous years are not qualified but paperback originals published in 1999 are.) Be sure to use the subject header "1999 Reader Poll" in your e-mail and please vote only once!
