Forbes, Yahoo! Internet Life Rate Salon.com Among the Best on the Internet

Salon Technology, Mothers Who Think Lauded

March 2, 2000 | San Francisco -- Salon.com (Nasdaq: SALN - news; www.salon.com), one of the leading Internet media companies, is among the best Web sites on the Internet, according to two major magazines, Forbes and Yahoo! Internet Life.

In its Best of the Web issue (Spring 2000), Forbes magazine recognized two sites on the Salon.com network -- Salon Technology (www.salon.com/tech) and Salon Mothers Who Think (www.salon.com/mwt) -- as being among the best and most influential in their field. In its Technology News category, Forbes describes Salon Technology as ``almost alone in a sea of technology boosterism,'' adding that it ``offers a skeptical outlook on high-tech.'' The magazine also applauded Salon's ability to ``cut through other sites' obsequious blather.''

In its Parenting category, Forbes tapped Salon Mothers Who Think for its ``serious, well-researched features'' and its ``hard-hitting, blunt essays.'' Mothers Who Think is dedicated to providing a forum for thought-provoking essays on parenting, motherhood and women's lives. In May 1999, Villard published a compilation book of Mothers Who Think features, which became a national bestseller.

The Salon.com network was also recognized by Yahoo! Internet Life in its Top of the Net issue (January 2000) as the Best Online Magazine for the third year in a row.
