Munster movies
Widow's peaked: Eddie and Grandpa are baaack ... their careers, not so much. Posh Spice on how to get famous in 30 days or your money back; and Anna Nicole Smith's late, great, reprobate husband.

Nov. 1, 1999 | It's that time of year when the world starts to ask, "What ever happened to Eddie Munster?"

Butch Patrick, who as a youth made the most of his widow's peak on the classic '60s TV show "The Munsters," has spent more recent years appearing in haunted houses and the occasional TV spot. Back in the '80s, he formed a band called Eddie and the Monsters, but now, 46 and still scary-looking, he's hoping to hit the TV big-time once again.

He's peddling a new show called "1313 Theatre" in which he and an Elvira-like sidekick (Natalie Popovich) will showcase monster movie classics. And yes, he will occasionally don the old Eddie Munster regalia and reprise his childhood role. The ubiquitous Al Lewis (aka Grandpa Munster) will also make an appearance. "He's like family," says Patrick.

I dare you to ask what ever happened to Marilyn Munster ...

The finer shades of sickness

"We're ... sick in different ways. I'm more sick and evil, and Matt is more sick and fucked up."

-- Trey Parker, answering Maxim's query as to whether he or his "South Park" co-creator, Matt Stone, is "the sicker bastard."

Sadly, it looks like you'll have to zip over to the U.K. to get it. Victoria "Posh" Adams is apparently looking to become a TV star and will kick off her boob-tube career with a special called "Victoria's Secrets" on Britain's Channel 4. She'll provide insights into her starry, starry world and tips on how you can render your life just as spicy.

C'mon, buck up. Maybe you can get a friend in London to tape it for you.

Just so long as she didn't give her makeup tips

"Be on time and know your lines."

-- "Passions" star Liza Huber on the advice her mom, Susan Lucci, gave her before she went into acting, in USA Weekend.

Juicy bits

Things are getting even uglier in the ongoing battle between Dr. Laura Schlessinger and the owner of a California surf shop. A few months ago, you may recall, Dr. Laura accused Beach Access owner Tom Moore -- on the air -- of peddling pornography to the kiddies. When he called her a liar, she sued him for libel. Now, the AP reports, he's countersuing her for slander. Doesn’t it just make you want to go take on the day?

They don't call it "Hardball" for nothing. In the CNBC show's post-Democratic forum commentary last week, ex-Secretary of Labor Robert Reich came down squarely on the side of size matters. "Bradley's taller. The tall guy always wins," he said. But George magazine's Tony Blankley said skill might have something to do with the election's outcome too. "Gore looked like he was the kind of person who was doing sex after having read a book about how to do it," he said. Doing sex?

The most shocking revelation from the heated struggle over the late billionaire Howard Marshall's estate? His lawyer testified last week that the Texas oil baron was so taken with his Playboy Playmate wife, Anna Nicole Smith, he wanted to adopt her as well as marry her. Come to papa!

A U.K. Islamic group has issued a fatwa against Terrence McNally for his play "Corpus Christi," which depicts Jesus as the "king of queers" and opened in London last week. Looks like Salman Rushdie's getting a little company in exile.
