COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) -- A Lego set that features a figure called "Evil Ogel" who threatens to drop "mind-controlling devices over a city" was ordered pulled from shelves worldwide after complaints in the wake of terrorist attacks in the United States.
Danish toy maker Lego ordered 120,000 boxes from the Alpha Team series withdrawn from stores after a complaint from South Carolina about the description of Ogel's "devices" in the toy's 78-page instruction booklet.
"This can be understood as weapons and considering what happened on Sept. 11, that is totally unacceptable," Lego spokeswoman Eva Lykkegaard said. "This is absolutely not in line with our values."
Alpha Team box No. 6775 includes small figures -- secret agents with "superhero powers and specialized gizmo," according to Lego. Their mission is to free team members captured by Ogel.
Lykkegaard said "a friendly consumer in South Carolina" contacted a Lego consumer department last week to complain. Nothing is wrong with the toy itself, she said.
Lego is based in Billund, western Denmark.
