Man lived in teen girl's closet

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (AP) -- A man lived in a 15-year-old girl's bedroom closet for three weeks before her mother found out and had him arrested, a prosecutor said.

Jeffrey Scott Martin, 26, was arrested and charged with corrupting a minor through sexual contact and illegally using a minor in nudity-oriented material. He faces 9 years in prison.

The girl's mother discovered Martin when she opened the closet to put away some sweaters and found blankets, a pillow and dishes, prosecutor John Baker said Thursday. Her daughter then admitted that Martin had been living there since Nov. 17, he said.

Several pictures of the girl, including one in which she is naked, were also found in the closet, Baker said.

The two met about seven months ago over the Internet, Baker said.

Martin has been absent without leave from his Army unit at Fort Knox, Ky., since Oct. 18.

He was arrested Saturday in his pickup truck, which was parked near the girl's home in Mount Vernon, about 30 miles northeast of Columbus. Military dynamite and other munitions were found in the truck.

Baker said Martin avoided detection by staying in the closet when the girl's mother was at home, but had the run of the house while she was at work.

"You would think that most people would discover this sometime before this," Baker said. "But how often does a parent check a child's closet?"
