_______________GANDHI WAS NO PITCHMAN BY BILL MCKIBBEN (11/4/97)
Was Bill McKibben paid for the article that he wrote for you? If so, what does he think the large Westcore banner ad above the illustration of the "offending" Apple ad was doing there? Paying for his breakfast?

While I appreciate editorial irony as much as the author appreciates commercial irony, I find this paradox self-destroying and not very illuminating. I would prefer to watch Gandhi meditating in his evening service than listen to pretentious clap-trap.

Bravo on "Gandhi was no pitchman" by Bill McKibben. I am so glad someone FINALLY pointed out how disgusting this ad campaign is. Also glad that Salon continues to publish articles based on the importance of a topic, and not worry about who their sponsors are (Microsoft, Apple etc.).

-- Jenn Engel

Talk about overreaction! However, I notice the author's outrage does not extend to not using his Mac. He will continue to use it until it no longer functions, which he supposes will be forever. (What a positive endorsement for the reliability of an Apple computer!)
