SALON'S TV PICKS FOR
THURSDAY, JAN. 28, 1999
BY JOYCE MILLMAN

S E R I E S

The X-Files Complete Conspiracy (8 and 11 p.m., FX) continues with Episode 40, "End Game" (8 p.m.), the conclusion to "Colony," in which the Bounty Hunter agrees to exchange the captive Scully for an alien clone claiming to be Mulder's sister. Later, it's Episode 48, "Anasazi" (11 p.m.), another David Duchovny-Chris Carter story collaboration in which Mulder receives an encrypted digital tape containing evidence of the government's knowledge of UFOs for the past 50 years. The encryption turns out to be Navajo, and sets Mulder on a course for New Mexico, where he finds a buried boxcar filled with ... Significant moments: Carter appears as an FBI agent; Mulder's father meets a violent end. Fox Files (9 p.m., Fox) has a profile of Deborah Harry. Mystery! (check local times, PBS) begins the three-part "Heat of the Sun," starring Trevor Eve as a 1930s Scotland Yard investigator who runs afoul of his superiors and is sent off to a post in Kenya. On Cupid (9 p.m., ABC), Trevor ruins Claire's pre-wedding party for a friend, but not without good reason. Hathaway thinks she's pregnant on a rerun of ER (10 p.m., NBC).
