Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (check local times, syndicated) closes out its sixth season with a Federation invasion of Cardassia that will take the life of one of Sisko's closest allies. Seinfeld (9 p.m., NBC) reruns the episode where Jerry sleeps with his maid, Elaine lives a lie to regain her 212 area code and George is plagued by a simian nickname. Dana Carvey plays a prima donna fashion designer on a rerun of Just Shoot Me (9:30 p.m., NBC). On a rerun of ER (10 p.m., NBC) Hathaway seeks support from Carter's wealthy grandmother to open the free clinic, and budget cuts force Weaver to lay off staff. ABC News Thursday Night (10 p.m., ABC) has a report on how the Roman Catholic Church evaluates candidates for sainthood.

The upcoming Avengers movie, starring Uma Thurman and Ralph
Fiennes, is giving fans of the original TV series a nice little windfall.
On July 28, two boxed sets of "Avengers" episodes starring Diana Rigg and
Patrick Macnee will hit the stores; on Aug. 15, A&E will celebrate the
opening of the new movie with an Avengers Marathon of classic
episodes ... Bob Odenkirk and David Cross of HBO's comedy series Mr.
Show have sold their script "Hooray for America" to Universal; it's
about an actor who's recruited by a giant corporation to run for president.
The Harry Truman Show? ... NBC will not rerun the lame yet controversial
"Puerto Rican Day parade" episode of Seinfeld, thereby insuring it
of legend status on the rerun and cable syndication circuit.
