The 1993 multiple Oscar nominee The Remains of the Day (8 p.m. Fri., USA) has its first non-premium cable showing. Anthony Hopkins plays a repressed butler secretly in love with housekeeper Emma Thompson. Also having its first network airing: In the Name of the Father (8 p.m. Sat., ABC), Jim Sheridan's 1993 drama starring Daniel Day-Lewis as a man convicted of an IRA bombing he didn't commit. With Pete Postlethwaite and Emma Thompson. Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal host Comic Relief VIII (8 p.m. Sun., HBO), the annual fund-raiser for homeless support agencies. Dennis Miller, Ray Romano, Roseanne, Jon Stewart, Dave Chappelle and Kathy Griffin are among the performers. Blue's Big Birthday Party (8 p.m. Sun., Nickelodeon) is a special prime-time airing of the kids' show "Blue's Clues." For those without pre-schoolers, this is a pretty cool show where a friendly camp counselor type named Steve helps home viewers solve mysteries with the aid of Blue the dog. Grown-up viewers who also watch Homicide will recognize Steve as the high school nerd who murdered a star basketball player in an episode earlier this season.

Saturday Night Live (11:30 p.m. Sat., NBC) has a best of Phil Hartman show. The Simpsons (8 p.m. Sun., Fox) reruns the one where Bart and Lisa are stranded on an island and Homer surfs the net. The O.J. Simpson affair is rehashed on E! True Hollywood Story (8 p.m. Sun., E!). On a rerun of King of the Hill (8:30 p.m. Sun., Fox), Bobby is inspired by a raunchy stand-up comic (voice of Chris Rock), except he doesn't really get the jokes. Boy George is the subject of Behind the Music (8:30 p.m. Sun., VH1), which is followed by the Culture Club reunion concert (10 p.m., VH1). The X-Files (9 p.m. Sun., Fox) prepares for the imminent release of the movie by rerunning the first part of the two-parter involving those aliens with their faces sewed shut. Are you taking notes?
