Martin Luther King, Jr.
Oct. 5, 2000 | Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is perhaps the most revered political and spiritual leader of the twentieth century. Born in Atlanta on January 15, 1929, Baptist Reverend King is perhaps best known for his leadership in the Montgomery bus strike of 1955 and 1956 which established him as a preeminent orator and proponent of non-violent civil disobedience.
On April 4, 1968, while assisting a garbage workers' strike in Memphis, King was assassinated.
Taken from the Time Warner audio release "The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr.," in this original recording, King articulates his thoughts on US foreign policy in Vietnam. Other speeches in this compilation include King's "I Have A Dream," "Letter from a Birmingham Jail," and "The Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech."
