Candidate Profile

About the position
As a Sales Account Executive you will be responsible for acquiring, growing and retaining relationships with advertisers and advertising agencies. Prospect, qualify and close sales with a large number of advertisers to drive revenue for Salon. Gain new business through inbound sales leads, phone and e-mail sales efforts with some limited travel required. Consistently meet or exceed sales goals by understanding Salon's advertising model, and the Internet advertising environment.
Your Qualifications
- 4 to 5 years experience in sales role. Online advertising sales experience and media sales experience preferable.
- Demonstrated success in goal oriented, highly accountable sales environment.
- Superior communication skills, including presentations, phone and e-mail.
- Experience with a large account base, particularly working with both new and ongoing accounts for long-term relationships.
- Understanding of advertising and the Internet.
- Ability to work as part of a sales team.
- Comfortable in an Internet environment with the ability to successfully function independently.
- Productive sales person, able to handle large number of client interactions daily.

Advertising Sales Development Manager, New York, NY
Candidate Profile
The Sales Development Manager, reporting to the Vice President of Sales, will be responsible for the creation of and implementation of new advertising/sponsorship products on Salon.com. This responsibility will exist throughout the product life cycle from idea through development, launch, operation, evaluation and end of product life.
The Sales Development Manager will create strategies and plans for these products, guided by overall Salon strategy. This individual will be responsible for obtaining Management Team approval for proposed strategies and plans.
Working with other Salon departments, Sales Operations, IT, Product Development, Editorial, etc. the Sales Development Manager will be responsible for implementation of his or her proposals, as well as agreed upon proposals from other company members and ultimately for their success.
About the position
- Examination of all aspects of the Salon.com site and related media (multimedia, newsletters, etc.) with an eye for revenue generating possibilities in the form of new advertising sponsorships and packages; presenting these ideas with revenue and impact statements to management for approval and ultimately, leading and overseeing implementation.
- Reacting to requests from sales, editorial, and other interested areas of the company, to create sponsorships for new products by investigating, providing point of view on "green lighting," prioritizing, and seeing through to implementation.
- Implementing new ad product launches by leading teams across various functions in the company (Marketing, Advertising Sales, Ad Operations, IT, Editorial, Design, etc.) as well as client input and involvement when required.
- Monitoring the operation and success of new sponsorship products from all pertinent aspects: proper functioning, user experience, value to sponsor, metrics reporting, guaranteeing delivery.
- Making optimization suggestions on both specific campaigns and ad products in general by making use of both industry standard and "native" tracking tools.
- Tracking revenue of newly created ad products and their value to Salon Media Group.
Your qualifications
- Must possess a BS/BA degree with a minimum of 3 years of internet business experience.
- Strong knowledge of online media, marketing and advertising required.
- Great interpersonal and teamwork skills are required. The successful candidate will be communicating daily with key Salon Media Group members across the whole company.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Good business judgment, as well as emotional and professional maturity required.
